20th Anniversary Founders' Circle Campaign
CHRP benefits from a diverse Board of Directors who are committed to the establishment of the American Rhythm Center as a sustainable institution dedicated to building community through the shared practice, appreciation and creation of American tap and contemporary percussive arts. CHRP also benefits from a favorable environment in Chicago related to attendance/participation at tap performances/education events similar to its devotion to jazz music. However, the organization also faces capacity building challenges – particularly related to long term sustainability – such as leadership transition, diversification of revenue and need for a permanent physical space.
Over the course of the next three years, 2010-12, the organization has identified four strategic priorities that both leverage the strengths of the organization as well as address potential issues. These priorities include:
- Maximize support for year round performance, education and community outreach programs by developing a larger individual donor base, launching a targeted 20th Anniversary Founders’ Circle Campaign and returning to focused presentations of Chicago based artists.
- Increase board size and capacity to fundraise and self-govern in order to transition from a founder driven organization into a more stable, permanent institution.
- Increase staff capacity by hiring a managing/development director.
- Expand fee based tap classes for children, teens, professionals, educators and adult practitioners to create additional earned revenue streams to support the development of a discrete CHRP education/performance facility (American Rhythm Center).
Taken together, these priorities will lay the foundation for CHRP’s third decade and on the path towards realizing its vision of establishing the first cultural center in the world dedicated to American tap and contemporary percussive arts.
